With Labor Day just behind us, I can’t help but think of the importance of ‘laboring in the right field.’ Many times we get caught up in being a ‘hard worker’ and the nobility of how that appears. (And yes, working is noble- it’s the right thing to do!) However, the other part to think about is how we are working and what we are working towards. What do I mean by this? I’m so glad you asked!
Listen, sometimes we have the tendency to work for work’s sake. I call this the hamster wheel or rat race. The thing is, when we are caught in such a vortex, many times we aren’t progressing towards purpose. Instead we are stuck in one spot- making little to no traction. Getting out this ‘zombie world’ takes courage and creativity. It looks different for everyone because we all have different paths BUT it yields the same result. That result is pursuing calling and chasing purpose. If you have to ask yourself if you’re doing it, well, that’s a sign right there…
Today, and every day, be sure to take a step in that direction. The size of the step doesn’t matter either- it’s only the direction that makes the difference. Labor in purpose.L
